Kira Straub is an interdisciplinary artist thinking about the past affecting the present, and how lived histories shape who we are as we move towards unknown futures. Working through the lens of their own personal history; of traumas, joys, confusions and happinesses, their work exists as an exploration of what from my past they choose to carry into their future.
They will be graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in May of 2024 with a BFA in Studio Art with concentrations in Sculpture, Ceramics, and Community Arts. In the last year their work has been displayed in the 2024 Wisconsin Artist’s Biennial at The Museum of Wisconsin Art and Sculpture Milwaukee’s Dear, Nature public art exhibition at the 3rd St. Market Hall in downtown Milwaukee.
