Consumption

Pine, Resin, Acrylic Ink
40in x 3in x 11in
Drawn from my experiences of working as a server in the restaurant industry during the social media movement to ban straws, Consumption exists to question how society views food waste and sustainability. Consumption is also one example of my process of repeated experimentation to push the traditional boundaries of the materials I use.Over and over again I experimented with how to inlay resin into wood. Each wood piece had to be cut in to at a specific depth and angle to create the correct line thickness. The form tapers from a three inch thickness at its ends to one inch thickness at its center. After the eight pieces that make up this work were turned on the lathe and assembled together, four continuous lines of inlaid resin grow smaller along with the thickness of the form.
