How do you practice play in your everyday life?
How has this changed as you have aged?
This piece is based on a memory.
Heavily steeped with nostalgia and longing for a simpler time in the past, “memory of play” is a piece about how the idea of play changes as we grow older. When I was a child, I would play with building blocks for hours. This piece reflects my longing for the innocence of childhood play. It is meant to challenge the viewer to contemplate the way the idea of “play” changes throughout one’s lifetime.
Today, I play with ideas more often than I do with blocks. It was nice to play with blocks again for a little while.
